Europeans press for digital tax at G20 meeting

Dollar spending on technologyEuropean finance leaders have demanded global rules to tax digital companies at a meeting of G20 finance ministers and central bankers in Argentina on Sunday, Reuters reported.

US technology companies such as Alphabet’s Google, Facebook and Amazon will be under pressure.

Some 200 companies will fall within the scope of the new tax, European officials said earlier estimating additional annual revenues of $6 billion.
