The latest IDC report has revealed the leaders in India PC market in Q3 2024. HP is the leader in India PC market in Q3 2024 with 29 percent share.

Lenovo (17.3 percent), Dell (14.6 percent), Acer (14.6 percent) and Asus (9.7 percent) are the other top PC brands in India in Q3 2024.
IDC report covers of desktops, notebooks, and workstations as part India’s PC market report. India PC market rose 0.1 percent to 4.49 million Units in 3Q24.
The desktop category declined 8.1 percent in India.
Notebook category grew 2.8 percent.
Workstation category rose 2.4 percent.
Online festival sales drove the demand for premium notebooks (>US$1,000), which grew by 7.6 percent.
The consumer PC segment declined 2.9 percent despite vendors aggressively discounting a wide range of PCs on e-tail platforms.
The commercial PC segment grew 4.4 percent. Enterprise PC segment grew 9.6 percent.
Leading PC makers
HP has dominated the Indian PC market in the third quarter of 2024, securing 29 percent market share. HP topped both the commercial and consumer segments, with shares of 34.3 percent and 24.8 percent, respectively. HP shipped 1.05 million notebooks during the quarter, marking its third-largest quarter ever, thanks to a 30.2 percent growth in the enterprise segment and robust consumer demand during festive sales.
Lenovo has 17.3 percent share in India PC market. Key enterprise orders and strong momentum in the SMB sector helped Lenovo achieve a 20.3 percent share in the commercial segment. Lenovo’s focus on branded gaming notebooks and e-tail channels boosted its consumer segment share to 15 percent, reflecting a 3 percent growth.
Dell Technologies and Acer Group tied for third place, each holding a 14.6 percent market share. Dell excelled in the commercial segment, achieving a 20.8 percent share with a 4.7 percent growth, driven by strong SMB momentum. However, Dell’s minimal participation in e-tail sales led to a 5.4 percent decline in its consumer segment.
Acer posted 26.2 percent growth, driven by partial fulfillment of education projects and key enterprise orders. Acer led the commercial desktop category with a 30.2 percent share and recorded a 38 percent surge in consumer shipments, capitalizing on festive e-tail sales.
Asus has 9.7 percent share in India PC market. Despite 22.3 percent decline due to leaner inventories, Asus ranked second in the consumer segment with a 16.2 percent share and achieved 5.5 percent growth in its commercial segment by prioritizing enterprise demand in 2024.
Growth drivers
The commercial PC market in India is on the recovery path as enterprises have slowly started refreshing their IT devices. The IT/ITES is buying PCs. The adoption of PCs for gaming and content creation coupled with the increasing focus on AI features and tools in PCs are expected to drive the consumer segment, Navkendar Singh, Associate Vice President, Devices Research, IDC India, South Asia & ANZ said.
