MWC 2024: Intel Unveils Intel vPro Platform, Enhancing PC Experience

Intel introduced its latest innovation, the Intel vPro platform, extending the capabilities of AI PCs to commercial customers — at Mobile World Congress 2024.
Intel vPro platform for PCsThis platform, powered by the enhanced features of Intel Core Ultra processors equipped with built-in Intel Arc GPUs, alongside the introduction of Intel Core 14th Gen processors, promises to redefine PC experience  across various sectors including enterprises, small- and medium-sized businesses, the public sector including education, and edge computing applications.

The unveiling marks a significant expansion of Intel’s commercial portfolio, with over 100 notebook, 2-in-1, desktop, and entry workstation designs slated for release by leading partners such as Acer, ASUS, Dell Technologies, Dynabook, Fujitsu, HP, Lenovo, LG, Microsoft Surface, NEC, Panasonic, Samsung, and VAIO.

David Feng, Intel’s vice president of Client Computing Group and general manager of Client Segments, expressed confidence in the transformative potential of the Intel vPro platform, stating, “The Intel vPro platform with Intel Core Ultra continues to raise the bar across productivity, security, manageability, and stability, to ensure IT organizations manage transitions with confidence.”

“We are delivering new AI experiences with more than 100 software vendors, Windows 11, and Copilot. 2024 is shaping up to be the best year to refresh your fleet and be AI-ready,” David Feng said.

The new Intel Core Ultra processor boasts leadership performance, enhanced power efficiency, and integrated Intel Arc GPUs with dedicated AI acceleration capabilities across the CPU, GPU, and the new neural processing unit (NPU). This empowers commercial PCs to support everyday applications while unlocking a myriad of AI-driven experiences.

Furthermore, the introduction of built-in Intel Arc GPUs offers up to twice the graphics performance of previous generations, with advanced features such as AI and ray tracing catering to modern software demands. Complementing this, a dedicated OEM-enabled Intel Arc Pro workstation graphics driver promises enhanced performance optimizations for creative, design, and engineering software.

The Intel Core 14th Gen processors will also play a crucial role in extending the commercial portfolio, providing power to a range of desktops and entry-level workstations. These processors feature a performance hybrid architecture, maximizing computing headroom for advanced applications and multitasking, while Intel Thread Director and Intel Dynamic Tuning Technology ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency.

The new Intel vPro platform reinforces Intel’s commitment to providing a productive, secure, manageable, and stable foundation for commercial client computing. Notable features include significant productivity enhancements, improved security through Intel Threat Detection Technology, advanced manageability tools such as Intel Device Discovery and Intel Device Health with VMware, and stability initiatives like the Stable IT Program.

Furthermore, Intel’s collaboration with Microsoft aims to deliver more productive, creative, and secure experiences through Windows 11, Microsoft Teams, and Copilot.

“With the combination of Copilot and Intel Core Ultra silicon, we’re bringing improved efficiency, better graphics, and new AI experiences in productivity and creativity at scale with the AI PC,” James Howell, general manager of Windows at Microsoft, said.

The introduction of the Intel vPro platform marks a pivotal moment in enterprise technology, promising to revolutionize PC experiences and unleash new levels of productivity and innovation for businesses worldwide. With a strong focus on AI acceleration and graphics performance, Intel aims to cater to the evolving needs of the modern workforce and drive the adoption of AI-driven technologies in commercial settings.
