AI PC buyers can pre-order today with systems available globally on-shelf and online at over 30 global retailers starting Sept. 24. All designs featuring Intel Core Ultra 200V series processors and running the latest version of Windows are eligible to receive Copilot+ PC features as a free update starting in November.

The latest Canalys report said shipments of AI-capable PCs represented 14 percent of all PCs shipped in the second quarter of 2024.

The number of AI PCs shipped has reached 8.8 million during Q2 2024. Apple is the leader in the AI PC market. The global PC industry is expected to ship around 44 million AI-PCs in 2024 and 103 million AI-PCs in 2025, according to Ishan Dutt, Principal Analyst at Canalys.

“Only Intel has the scale through our partnerships with ISVs and OEMs, and the broader technology ecosystem, to provide consumers with a no-compromise AI PC experience,” Michelle Johnston Holthaus, Intel executive vice president and general manager of the Client Computing Group, said.

Intel Core Ultra 200V processors deliver up to 50 percent lower package power and up to 120 total platform TOPS (tera operations per second) across central processing unit (CPU), graphic processing unit (GPU) and neural processing unit (NPU).

The fourth-generation NPU is up to 4x more powerful than the previous generation for running AI workloads while remaining energy-efficient. TOPS are activated in more than 300 AI-accelerated features enabled by Intel’s work with over 100 integrated software vendors (ISVs) and developers as part of its AI PC Acceleration Program.

Intel’s Xe2 graphics microarchitecture improves mobile graphics performance by 30.

The built-in Intel Arc GPU includes as many as eight new 2nd Gen Xe-cores, eight enhanced ray tracing units, support for up to three 4k monitors, and new built-in Intel Xe Matrix Extensions (Intel XMX) AI engines with up to 67 TOPS to power creative applications and boost gaming performance thanks to enhanced XeSS kernels.

Intel Core Ultra 200V processors also offer up to 3x the performance per thread and up to 80 percent peak performance uplift, and up to 20 hours of battery life in productivity use cases.

AI-PC market trends

PC buyers recently welcomed Copilot+ PCs incorporating Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X series of chips, based on Arm architecture.

Intel rival AMD announced its Ryzen AI 300 series of notebook processors in June, with product releases starting in mid-July.
