Intel announced the availability of 8th Gen Intel Core desktop processors for purchase from October 5, 2017.
SANTA CLARA, California-based Intel will be targeting gamers and content creators with the launch of the new desktop processors that promise better performance to desktop users.
Intel did not reveal its OEM partners who will be using the latest desktop processors during the upcoming festival season.
The company said the new 8th Gen Intel Core desktop processors promise performance boosts that deliver frame rate improvements of up to 25 percent as compared with 7th Gen Intel Core.
New 8th Gen Intel Core desktop processors – supported by Intel Z370 chipset-based motherboards — ensure up to 65 percent faster editing in content creation compared with a 3-year-old machine.
This new family introduces the first-ever 6-core Intel Core i5 desktop processor and first-ever 4-core Intel Core i3 desktop processor.
The latest desktop processors offer better performance options for consumers with unlocked “K” processors that deliver maximum tuning flexibility at each brand level and up to 40 platform PCIe 3.0 lanes for system expandability on graphics, storage and I/O.
Intel Core i7-8700K gaming processor — powered by Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 –is capable of 4.7 GHz maximum single-core turbo frequency, the highest frequency ever from Intel.

Gamers gain up to 25 percent more frames per second on games like Gears of War compared with 7th Gen Intel Core. Intel has also ensured two times speed for game + stream + record compared with a 3-year-old machine.
Intel said customers of the latest processors can also edit 4K 360-degree videos with up to 32 percent faster compared with the previous generation and edit content up to 65 percent faster compared with a 3-year-old PC.
Intel Optane memory to desktop computer with an 8th Gen Intel Core processor will gain additional accelerated system responsiveness, up to 2.1 times faster compared with a 5-year-old desktop with HDD alone.
