The industrial robots market in India reached 3,412 new units installed in 2017, registering 30 percent growth from 2,627 units in 2016.
India’s industrial robots market achieved a compound annual sales growth rate (CAGR) of 18 percent between 2012 and 2017, according to the International Federation of Robotics (IFR).
India’s automotive sector is the main end user with 62 percent share of the total supply in 2017. Sales rose by 27 percent (2016-2017).
“The automotive industry will remain the main driver of the increasing number of robot installations in India,” says Junji Tsuda, president of the International Federation of Robotics.
India has 85 industrial robots per 10,000 employees in the automotive industry which is less than a quarter of that in Indonesia (378 units) and far away from China (505 units).
