Indonesia’s PC market saw a 17.9 percent year-over-year (YoY) growth in Q2 2024, with 953,000 units of desktops, notebooks, and workstations shipped. This marks a 6.1 percent growth over the previous quarter.

The surge in Indonesia’s PC market was driven by a 28.7 percent increase in the consumer segment after the government lifted import restrictions that had been in place from late Q1 2024 to mid-Q2 2024. The restrictions, which required importers to re-apply for licenses, initially raised concerns about stifling market growth, particularly for notebooks.
The early removal of these restrictions gave vendors the opportunity to increase shipments in anticipation of rising demand in Q3 2024, which aligns with the back-to-school season. Local vendors benefited significantly from this situation, ramping up shipments during the absence of multinational vendor deliveries, contributing to the strong consumer segment growth.
This recovery positions the Indonesian PC market for continued momentum as the demand for personal computing devices remains strong heading into the second half of the year, according to IDC Worldwide Quarterly Personal Computing Device Tracker.
