India’s PC market continued its growth streak in Q2 2025, with leading vendors adopting unique strategies to capture demand across consumer and commercial segments.

According to IDC report, HP, Lenovo, Acer, Dell, and Asus were the top five PC vendors in India, together shaping consumer choices in desktops, notebooks, and workstations. For buyers, understanding how these brands are positioning themselves can help in making better purchasing decisions.
HP Retains Leadership With 30.8 percent Market Share
HP Inc. remained the top PC vendor in India with a 30.8 percent share in Q2 2025 and 29.9 percent in 1H25. The company dominated the commercial PC segment with a 35 percent share, driven by strong enterprise demand, particularly from the IT/ITES sector.
For consumers, however, HP shipments fell 16.8 percent YoY as the brand focused on inventory correction. This strategy is aimed at maintaining channel health and preparing for Independence Day and festive sales, suggesting buyers can expect fresh stock and better deals in the coming months.
Lenovo Strengthens With Gaming and Enterprise Demand
Lenovo secured second place with a 20.3 percent market share in Q2 2025. The brand saw 9.8 percent YoY growth in the consumer segment, fueled by the rising popularity of gaming laptops and strong etail sales. In the commercial market, Lenovo achieved 26.4 percent YoY growth, supported by Windows refresh cycles and increased adoption in the SMB sector.
For buyers, Lenovo’s push into gaming notebooks and mid-range consumer laptops means more variety and competitive pricing in online and offline channels.
Acer Focuses on Budget Laptops and Offline Reach
Acer ranked third with a 14.8 percent share in Q2 2025, driven by its budget-friendly laptop launches and wider presence in offline retail stores. This makes Acer a go-to choice for students and first-time buyers looking for affordable devices.
However, Acer’s commercial business declined 11.8 percent YoY due to reduced government orders, meaning the brand’s growth strategy remains consumer-centric.
Dell Faces Challenges in Consumer Market
Dell Technologies held an 11.3 percent share in Q2 2025, with strong performance in the commercial segment (up 9.8 percent YoY) thanks to enterprise and SMB demand. But its consumer share dropped to just 2 percent, the lowest in years, due to billing delays.
For buyers, Dell remains a strong choice in business laptops and premium enterprise PCs, but consumer options may be limited until the company corrects its supply chain challenges.
Asus Gains With Gaming Notebooks
Asus maintained its position in the top five with a 7.7 percent market share in Q2 2025. The brand recorded 12.8 percent YoY growth in consumer PCs, largely driven by gaming laptops under its ROG lineup. Its commercial shipments also grew 7.8 percent YoY with increased channel expansion.
Buyers seeking performance-driven gaming laptops or stylish mid-range notebooks can expect continued options from Asus, as it invests heavily in this segment.
Outlook: Festive Season Deals and AI-Powered PCs
IDC expects Windows refresh orders and government-led projects like ELCOT education initiatives to fuel the commercial PC market in the second half of 2025. For consumers, brands are gearing up for festive season promotions, with a focus on gaming PCs, AI-powered laptops, and budget-friendly notebooks.
Key Buyer Insights:
HP: Expect aggressive deals during upcoming sales as new stock hits channels.
Lenovo: Strong push in gaming and SMB laptops makes it attractive for young professionals and gamers.
Acer: Affordable laptops and strong offline reach make it a solid choice for students.
Dell: Reliable for business laptops, but consumer buyers may face limited options short-term.
Asus: Great for buyers seeking gaming laptops and stylish mid-range notebooks.
With PC demand in India set to rise further in 2025, consumers can look forward to competitive pricing, AI-enabled features, and festive season discounts across leading brands.
