India PC shipments achieved quarter on quarter growth of 12.5 percent and year on year growth of 8.5 percent to 2.16 million units in Q1 2017.
India’s consumer PC shipment was 1.05 million units (+14.5 percent y-o-y and +19.4 percent q-o-q), said IDC.
The size of the commercial PC market in India was 1.11 million units (+6.7 percent quarter on quarter and +3.3 percent year on year).
Growth driver for business PC market was seasonality, execution of state-owned manifesto deals and increase spending from BFSI vertical.
HP led the market with 29.5 percent share of the India PC market in Q1 2017. HP picked up some key wins and executed a few state-owned education projects along with projects in the banking and financial sector. HP achieved 5.8 percent growth quarter on quarter in the India PC market in Q1 2017.
Dell has 22.5 percent market share in the India PC market. The US-based tech vendor continues to drive new initiatives and programs to provide seamless experience of learning for students through technology.
Dell’s PC shipments grew 19.9 percent quarter on quarter in consumer PC market. Simultaneously the Dell EMC merger has provided the vendor an extra space for customer expansion, which could prove to be beneficial in the near future as well.
Lenovo held on to the third spot, with a 17.7 percent market share in the India PC market in Q1 2017 and recorded a quarter on quarter growth of 15.1 percent due to the execution of manifesto project. Lenovo’s India consumer PC shipment grew 16.9 percent quarter on quarter.
