Epson lost share in printer market in Q1

Worldwide shipments of hardcopy peripherals grew 2.2 percent to 22.8 million units in the first quarter of 2023 (1Q23).

HP (with 36.1 percent), Canon Group (22.3 percent), Epson (18.2 percent), Brother (2.7 percent), Pantum (2.7 percent) and Others (12.3 percent) are the leaders in the global printer market.

Shipment value of hardcopy peripherals rose 14 percent during the first quarter to $11 billion, according to new data from IDC.

All regional markets, except Japan, recorded gains in shipment value, with the United States leading with 27.7 percent growth, followed by China at 19.1 percent and Western Europe at 11.7 percent.

Three out of the top 5 vendors posted positive year-over-year unit growth in 1Q23 with Epson at 11.2 percent, Brother 16 percent, and Pantum 33.9 percent.
