Dell India today said it is leading the domestic PC market with 23.1 percent share across segments in the first quarter of 2014, ahead of Lenovo, HP and Acer.
Dell has 33.1 percent share in Indian notebook market in the first quarter, said an IDC report.
In the PC market, the market share of HP was 24.1 percent, Lenovo 14.9 percent and Acer 10.9 percent in the first quarter of the calendar year.
Dell has 21.4 percent share in the consumer and small business segment. Dell also leads the Small Business segment with an overall share of 26.2 percent (No.1 in notebook with 61.0 percent and desktop with 15.4 percent).
Recently, Dell increased its consumer retail presence, launching its 200th Dell Exclusive Store in April 2014.
In the commercial business segment, Dell posted 40 percent quarter on quarter growth over Q4 2013 in terms of shipment. Dell, the #1 vendor in the workstation space, has 47.1 percent share in the first quarter.
Dell recently launched a new go to market strategy to further strengthen the reach and availability of its end-user Commercial solutions in the Indian market. This strategy is planned by the company to touch a wider customer and partner base in the Indian market, with extended coverage of Tier-2 and Tier 3 cities.
IDC said the overall India PC shipments dropped 25.2 percent to 2.03 million units in Q1 2014.
The commercial PC segment rose 4.1 percent to 1.02 million units. Banking and government verticals were the growth drivers.
Consumer PC shipments dipped 4.3 percent to 1.01 million units in Q1 2014 against Q4 2013.
HP, which dominated the India PC market in 2013 across all product categories, took the second place with a share of 20.4 percent in Q1 2014.
HP leads the consumer PC market in Q1 2014 across both desktop and notebook categories. Pricing, widespread retail presence, and strong support from channel partners ensured their lead in the consumer market, said IDC.
Lenovo, with 14.9 percent market share, is positioned strongly amongst private banking, IT/ITeS and telecom accounts.
