CES 2014: Toshiba enters Chromebook market

At the CES 2014, Toshiba announced its entry into the Chromebook market.

Toshiba’s first Chromebook will feature a 13.3-inch diagonal HD display.

Toshiba Chromebook is targeted at students and home users.

The price of Toshiba Chromebook is $279.99.

The Toshiba Chromebook features a 13.3-inch diagonal HD TruBrite display with a native 1366 x 768 screen resolution. A full-size Chrome-optimized keyboard and spacious touchpad makes getting work done a cinch online with an increasing number of productivity-driven apps like Gmail, Calendar, Docs and more that enable users to continue working even when not connected.

“The Toshiba Chromebook will super-charge productivity for consumers, schools and businesses, with its 13-inch screen and long battery life,” said Caesar Sengupta, vice president of product management, Google. “With this new addition to the Chromebook family, consumers have even more choices at very affordable prices.”

Toshiba Chromebook weighs 3.3 pounds and features a slim 0.8-inch profile sporting a sleek new design with a textured finish.

It features a Haswell-based Intel Celeron processor, 2GB of RAM4 and a 16GB solid state drive, battery life of up to nine hours, 100GB Google Drive storage, two USB 3.0 ports8, a full-size HDMI port, security lock slot and a memory card reader, plus Bluetooth 4.0 and dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi.
