Canon unveils PIXMA PRO series ultra-professional photo printers in India

Infotech Lead India: Digital imaging specialist Canon has unveiled advanced series of ultra-professional printers for in-studio photo printing.

The company launched three A3+ ultra-professional photo printers: PIXMA PRO- 1, PIXMA PRO 10 and PIXMA PRO 100.  PIXMA PRO- 1 is priced Rs. 94,860; PIXMA PRO 10 is priced Rs. 65,995; and PIXMA PRO 100 is priced Rs. 47,995.

These printers are especially designed to meet the requirements of photographers with no compromise on productivity and very high color accuracy printing, the company said.  The Canon PIXMA Pro series aims to augment the quality of professional photo printing offer in India and help the company achieve a dominant status in this market.

With this launch, Canon has achieved a milestone to achieve its goal of becoming the No.1 in Indian digital imaging market after establishing its leadership position in several other Asian markets. Canon has set a target to achieve 25 percent of the market share in India in 2013. The new products will significantly contribute for this growth in terms of value, though not in terms of the number of units, according to Alok Bharadwaj, executive vice president Canon India.

“India is one of the most crucial markets in the APAC region for Canon. With a large number of growing avid photographers, we believe the PIXMA PRO series will be an innovative solution for photographers’ needs,” said Kazutada Kobayashi, president and CEO, Canon India. “With the help of these printers, every consumer can now bring photos to life and preserve their memories for a lifetime.”

The average lifespan of these prints is 200 years.

“India has over 10,000 professional photographers and half of them are Canon users. Over several years we have been addressing their strong needs for photo capturing equipments and accessories in the Indian market,” Bharadwaj said.

The new devices are designed to meet the growing requirement for ultra high quality fine art prints and ‘in-studio’ printing, Bharadwaj said. “We are delighted to enter into this domain which is estimated to be over 50 crores in size by 2013. We would target 50 percent of this in the year 2013.”

With the Canon PIXMA PRO series, professional photographers can look forward to dramatic images with precise colors according to their creative intent. All three printers are network ready, thereby allowing access to multiple users, and can be stationed at any part of the house or studio. The PIXMA PRO 10 and Pro 100 models also boast WiFi connectivity. These printers offer high-quality rendering, faster speed and improved efficiency to increase professional functionality. By optimizing the carriage speed, these printers can deliver photos quicker than ever.
