The latest Gartner report said Apple has shipped 5.652 million PCs in Q3 2024 as compared with 5.463 million in Q3 2023. Apple’s share in the global PC market has increased to 9 percent from 8.6 percent.
Mikako Kitagawa, Director Analyst at Gartner, said: “Apple grew well in certain regions, such as the U.S. and emerging Asia Pacific.”
The demand from education institutions drove the U.S. growth and back-to-school, as the third quarter is typically a buying season for schools and students preparing for the new academic year. In the emerging Asia Pacific, the Indian market led the growth since India has been one of Apple’s priority markets with low Mac penetration.
In the United States, Apple has shipped 2.629 million PCs in Q3 2024 as compared with 2.485 million in Q3 2023. Apple’s share in the United States PC market was stable at 15 percent, Gartner said.
The U.S. PC market rose 5.6 percent to over 17 million PCs in the third quarter of 2024. Worldwide PC shipments fell 1.3 percent to 62.9 million units in the third quarter.
Apple offers its AI strategy, Apple Intelligence. The approach focuses on the on-device processing of AI tasks rather than cloud-based processing. On-device processing means that the data used for the AI tasks is more secure and privacy is protected, as opposed to processing AI tasks on the cloud.
Apple Intelligence will be available as a free software update. Apple Intelligence will be available in beta as part of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1.
Apple has generated revenue of $7.009 billion from the sale of Mac during the quarter ended June 29, 2024.
