Amazon’s smart speaker share dipped to 41 percent in Q2 2018 from 44 percent in Q1 and 76 percent in Q2 2017, a Strategy Analytics report said.
Google has increased its share to 28 percent in Q2 2018 against 16 percent during the same period last year.
Alibaba is the third largest supplier of smart speakers.
Apple is the fourth largest vendor in the smart speaker market.
JD.com is the top five smart speaker vendor.
Amazon and Google accounted for a 69 percent share of global smart speaker shipments in Q2 2018 down from over 90 percent in Q2 2017.
The drop is a reflection of growing competition in the smart speaker market and Amazon and Google’s inability to break into the fast growing Chinese market that is dominated by local brands such as Alibaba, JD.com and Baidu.

Apple has established an early lead in the premium smart speaker market, benefiting from a loyal fan base and strong momentum behind its Apple Music service.
“Higher-end smart speaker market will become much more competitive moving forwards as vendors such as Samsung with its Galaxy Home speaker look to capitalize on the growing acceptance of voice as an established control mechanism,” David Mercer, vice president at Strategy Analytics, said.
