Xilinx brings 100G IEEE 802.3bj RS-FEC LogiCORE IP for data center

Xilinx announced the launch of 100G IEEE 802.3bj Reed-Solomon FEC (RS-FEC) IP for data center, service provider and enterprise applications – enabling optical solutions such as SR4, CWDM4, PSM4 or ER4f.

Xilinx, a provider of programmable FPGAs, SoCs and 3D ICs, said customers using Xilinx 100G IEEE 802.3bj RS-FEC LogiCORE IP can be the first in the market to accelerate designs while meeting the increased demands of mobile and cloud traffic.

The solution also delivers on the low latency needed for the time sensitive applications.

The 100 G RS-FEC LogiCORE IP solutions connect to Xilinx’s integrated or soft 100G Ethernet MAC IP running on Virtex Ultrascale.

Last month, Xilinx has launched automated multi camera image stitching IP for 2D/3D surround view systems.

Xilinx has generated revenue of $2.38 billion in FY14.

Meanwhile, Xilinx will demonstrate a 100G RS-FEC IP solution with Finisar and TE connectivity (TE) optics at OFC 2015 in Los Angeles. Xilinx is the first to demonstrate a complete 100G RS-FEC IP solution.

The demonstrations will feature the Virtex UltraScale VU095 FPGA communicating to a Finisar CFP4 ER4f optical module and a TE QSF P28 SR4 optical module.

Last year, Xilinx announced the industry’s first low latency 25G Ethernet IP for FPGAs to address throughput challenges in data center.
