ViaWest on Tuesday opened Brookwood data center in Hillsboro, the third in the state of Oregon.
The hybrid IT solutions provider said the Brookwood data center offers business customers access to a variety of Hybrid IT and infrastructure solutions, including cloud, colocation, compliance services and security solutions.
ViaWest have 29 data centers, of which three are located in Oregon, a coastal state in the US. These data centers supports nearly 1,500 customers.
“The fact that Oregon does not have a state sales tax and offers attractive tax incentive programs helps draw customers from neighboring states like California and Washington who are looking for more affordable data center alternatives,” said Nancy Phillips, president and CEO of ViaWest.
ViaWest said energy also played a role in initially attracting it to Oregon. The state is known for low power costs and is the third-largest renewable energy producing state in the nation.
ViaWest designed the Brookwood data center with redundant medium voltage power feeds, backed by an on-site generator plant. In addition, ViaWest is a Gold-level partner in the Portland General Electric Clean Wind program, which guarantees a reliable and renewable source of clean energy for businesses that require high-end facilities to support their IT infrastructures.
