Rackspace has launched Rackspace Content Delivery Network (CDN) — powered by Akamai Technologies.
Rackspace CDN provides the integrated one click access to the Akamai CDN services via the Rackspace portal.
The purpose of Rackspace CDN is to allow website content and applications to load quickly which will help in improving site traffic and customer engagement.
Rackspace will deliver web pages with global scale and reliability through on-demand access to the Akamai Intelligent Platform. The new CDN will allow Rackspace customers to scale out their worldwide web presence without massive infrastructure investments and deliver website content and applications faster.
During the early access program Rackspace CDN specialists provisioned 300 customers in less than 24 hours.
“As more of our customers focus on the performance of their digital platform, our new CDN solution will give them a faster, more reliable way to deliver website content to their customers across the world,” said Steve Crusenberry, senior vice president, infrastructure at Rackspace.
“Rackspace customers can benefit from even easier, faster access to the global scale, reach and performance of the Akamai CDN,” said John Sconyers, senior director, Cloud Services Partners, Akamai.
Few days ago, Akamai acquired Octoshape, a provider of video over internet without disclosing financial terms.
Last month Akamai Technologies acquired Xerocole, a provider of recursive DNS functionality, in a bid to expand its DNS product portfolio.
Meanwhile, Toshiba Corporation Semiconductor & Storage Products Company deployed Akamai to improve access-speed issues in conjunction with the consolidation of the company’s global websites in February 2015.
