Rackspace CEO Joe Eazor
Rackspace announced the appointment of Joe Eazor as the CEO — responsible for the company’s strategy and operations, spanning the U.S. and the three other continents where Rackspace maintains offices and data centers.

Joe Eazor, 54, who has spent more than 25 years as a technology executive, most recently served as CEO of EarthLink, a dial-up Internet service provider. At EarthLink, Eazor transformed its strategy, investing in new products and customer service.

In February, Joe Eazor led the sale of the company to Windstream for $1.1 billion and delivered significant returns to shareholders during his three years as CEO.

Before leading EarthLink, Joe Eazor served as a top executive at EMC, HP and EDS. After HP’s acquisition of EDS, Eazor was responsible for integrating that $22 billion business into its new parent.

Prior to the acquisition by HP, he led EDS’s Asia Pacific business and offshoring operations while living in Shanghai, China.

Joe Eazor earned a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from the Colorado School of Mines and an MBA at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.

Rackspace President Jeff Cotten has served as interim CEO since the company’s previous CEO, Taylor Rhodes, departed in early May. Jeff Cotten will continue to serve as president.
