Numergy taps Nuage SDN platform and Alcatel-Lucent router for data centers

Numergy, a Cloud computing vendor, has selected Nuage Networks’ software-defined networking (SDN) platform and Alcatel-Lucent’s 7750 service router for its data centers.

Numergy is planning to open two data centers. It has plans 10 additional data centers over the next three years. Its expansion plans reflect the recent Gartner report that said Cloud System Infrastructure Services (IAAS) end user spending in Western Europe will be growing at 32.1 percent CAGR (2012-2017), and the market size will reach $5.9 billion by 2017.

Numergy will deploy Nuage Networks’ Virtualized Services Platform (VSP) and 7850 Virtualized Services Gateway (VSG) as well as the Alcatel-Lucent 7750 Service Router to manage and automate its datacenter networks to be more programmable and operationally efficient.

“The Nuage Networks SDN technology allows us to address key performance and compatibility requirements for an open environment. This will allow us to virtualize our infrastructure and to offer our customers cloud services in a more dynamic way,” said Erik Beauvalot, chief operating officer of Numergy.

The Nuage Networks SDN solution provides datacenter network virtualization and automation that transforms datacenters into flexible environments that instantaneously establish the network services required in a cloud infrastructure.
