Nuage Networks announces new approach to datacenter virtualization

Nuage Networks, an Alcatel-Lucent venture focused on software defined networking (SDN) solutions, has extended the benefits of SDN automation across all datacenter assets to support virtualization.

Large enterprises are in various stages of virtualizing datacenter and network assets and cloud service providers are eager to connect managed hosting services to public clouds.

Nuage Networks’ approach to network virtualization includes software gateways and white-box gateways as well as high-performance gateways, so customers can expand their virtualized workloads while incorporating their non-virtualized assets as they advance toward the full business value that can be derived from the hybrid cloud.

The company now provides a full range of alternatives to non-virtualized datacenters helping customers integrate those assets to the pool of resources that can be leveraged to deliver applications for user groups as quickly and securely as they are needed.

The Nuage Networks Virtualized Services Platform (VSP) fully automates the datacenter network, creating secure “slices” for each user group or tenant while reducing provisioning time from days to seconds.

Nuage Networks has enhanced its VSP offering to include a high performance gateway called the 7850 Virtualized Services Gateway (VSG).

The 7850 VSG provides an ideal alternative for companies with a significant investment in non-virtualized assets who want to leverage automation and control across their virtualized and non-virtualized infrastructures.

CIOs can establish policies to be instantiated and enforced across all of the company’s assets, within and across private and shared datacenter facilities, regardless of whether the servers or appliances are virtualized.

This removes yet another constraint for broad-based adoption of cloud services for large enterprises and cloud service providers who can now make their datacenter networks as responsive as applications and their users need them to be, all while extending a common policy framework across the breadth of their datacenter network assets.

Sunil Khandekar, CEO of Nuage Networks, said, “By offering the full range of options for seamlessly integrating bare metal appliances, we allow our customers to reap the benefits of automated and template-driven deployment of applications under a common policy driven framework across all their workloads. We are excited to have removed yet another key barrier.”
