Mila selects Ekinops 100G solution for data centers

Mila has selected Ekinops to provide connectivity to data centers in Reykjavik, Iceland’s capital.

Through the agreement, Ekinops will provide 100 Gpbs equipment for the interconnection of various data centers.

Mila builds and operates telecommunications network in Iceland and also operates more than 500 technical facilities all over Iceland.

Company said, Iceland has cool environment and thus is ideal for data centers.

Companies using the services of data centers said cost and environment factors are key for them.

“Ekinops provided a very cost-effective solution and excellent support to meet our needs. The ability to quickly augment capacity is essential to our continued growth as data centers’ traffic increases rapidly,” said Snorri Olgeirsson, Chief Network Designer at Mila.

Last year in June, Ekinops introduced new 100G solution optimized for metro and regional network applications to cost-effectively move massive amounts of data between multiple sites and cover distances of up to 1000 km.

Ekinops unveiled a cost-effective, long-reach optical solution last year to offer high backhaul capacity while requiring minimum space and minimum power, with the ability to operate in extreme temperatures and harsh environments.
