Content sharing platform provider Merrill has launched a new data center in Hong Kong, becoming the first premium virtual data room provider to establish a data center in Asia.

The new data center provides services such as regional hosting, international compliance, utilization of new Asian language enhancements, site-wide text search and enhanced document processing and locally based service and sales directors, among other end-user benefits.

“The DataSite launch in Asia is a point of clear strategic and competitive differentiation for Merrill Corporation, and highly beneficial for our users,” said Nancy Yu, Managing Director for Merrill in APAC.

Yu ntoed that local hosting has tremendous user benefits, including better and faster performance. “The speed of transactions are enhanced, and in a business and region where time and speed is critical, this is a substantive advantage for our clients.”

In a press statement, the company said the new facility has project managers who can speak over 14 languages, including Mandarin, Korean and Japanese.

“The launch of the data center in APAC is yet another tangible proof point of our global, yet localized strategic approach,” said Rusty Wiley, Merrill’s President and CEO.

“APAC is a tremendous growth opportunity for Merrill, and we believe that an important and substantive step in further elevating our client value and business performance is increasing local expertise and infrastructure.”
