Latisys has completed construction of its Oak Brook, Illinois data center.

The company also said it’s preparing to commission an additional 24,400 square feet of new raised floor at the data center.

The new build-out features an additional 3.6 megawatts of power adding capacity at Latisys’ Tier 3 Chicago datacenter campus which has a total of 148,000 square feet.

Latisys also announced that NORC at the University of Chicago (NORC) has signed an early occupancy agreement, making it the first tenant.

“Confidential data which we receive requires a flexible IT environment that emphasizes security to ensure both the fidelity of the data we collect as well as performance for our customers,” said Ron Jurek, chief information officer at NORC at the University of Chicago.

NORC is also evaluating Latisys’ Ashburn, Va. data center campus for additional resiliency and redundancy solutions.

Pete Stevenson, CEO of Latisys, said: “Our expanded Chicago data center and hybrid cloud hosting platform is purpose built to deliver secure and scalable IT infrastructure solutions for large and mid-sized enterprises that seek both high performance and business value.”
