Juniper upgrades data centers and campus network of Auckland University

TheUniversityofAuckland(UoA) has tapped Juniper Networks for the upgradation of its campus network and two key data center sites.

The Univarsity has deployed Juniper Network’s QFabric system at its two key data center sites. The deployment will help the varsity provide low-latency performance and scalable operational simplicity.

With QFabric system for its new Tamaki data center network, the varsity wants extend the same QFabric benefits to a second data center site.

“The University is often in the position of being a trailblazer in adopting new technology and this is certainly the case with the Juniper Networks QFabric system. Having evaluated the QFabric system, we found its operational and low-latency performance advantages, which are particularly important to high-performance computing, to be so compelling we decided to adopt it as our standard infrastructure across both data centers,” said James Harper, associate director, Operations, University of Auckland.

In addition to the deployment, the varsity has also selected Juniper Networks EX Series Ethernet Switches to upgrade its campus network.

“This deployment illustrates the multi-dimensional value of QFabric by providing exceptionally high performance combined with reduced infrastructure and operating costs. We look forward to working with the University to ensure that its new data center network fabrics deliver world-class performance and operational economies,” said Mark Iles, managing director,AustraliaandNew Zealand, Juniper Networks.

The Junipers witches will reduce operational overhead and allow network to amplify performance alongside increase in scalability and resiliency. Additionally, the new EX4500 switches will provide a 10GbE network aggregation layer at all campuses.

Hong Kong Exchanges to use Juniper Networks QFabric architecture at new data center

Last month, Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEx) deployed a carrier-class switching infrastructure based on the Juniper Networks QFabric architecture at its new data center.

Hong Kong Exchanges is planning to complete the new hosting services data center by the third quarter of 2012.
