Infinera forms cloud networks group to tap data center market

Infinera has formed cloud networks group to strengthen its presence in the data center market.

Meanwhile, Verizon Labs chief technologist Stuart Elby has joined Infinera, a global provider of Intelligent Transport Networks, as the senior vice president of cloud network strategy and technology.

At Verizon, Elby was responsible for developing technology vision and target network architecture to support emerging products and services. He had significant influence in the network architecture and development of Verizon’s platforms for metro and long haul networks, including Verizon’s cloud and digital video services.

“As cloud services play a larger role in the telecommunications infrastructure, Infinera is committed to focusing on the specific requirements of cloud networks and delivering technologies that enable the continued evolution of this fundamental market shift,” said Infinera CEO Tom Fallon.
