IBM signs data center IT deal with Allianz

Enterprise IT vendor IBM will support the transformation of IT infrastructure of Allianz’s data centers.

Announcing the deal with Allianz, IBM said it will be acting as the provider of IT operation services for Allianz effect from 1 April 2014.

IBM in a statement said Allianz is planning to reduce the number of data centers to six from the current 140.

The global partnership with IBM covers IT-related infrastructure processes relating to technical operations. The aim is to create a global IT infrastructure that is robust in its ability to withstand natural catastrophes and disasters and that meets the very highest requirements in terms of quality and ease of use.

IBM says the program aims to further increase data security levels. Allianz expects to have completed the transfer to the new IT infrastructure and its operation in full by the end of 2017.
