Huawei launches new UPS with 97% efficiency for data centers

Telecom network supplier Huawei announced the launch of modular Uninterrupted Power System (UPS) with 97 percent efficiency for data centers.

Earlier, Huawei UPS offered 96 percent efficiency.

Announced at the Intelec International Communications Energy Conference 2014, the new Huawei UPS products ensure reliable power supply and deliver intelligent solutions to manage problems caused by overloaded power grids.

Data centers are the world’s fifth largest energy-consuming industry, expanding 400 billion kWh annually. Each percentage point increase in UPS efficiency can reduce power consumption 5 billion kWh per year.

The Huawei UPS has achieved 97 percent efficiency at 40 percent load rate reducing consumption by a further 25 percent.

Fang Liangzhou, vice president, Network Energy Products, Huawei, said: “The release of a 97 percent efficiency modular UPS showcases the work Huawei is doing to reduce data center consumption and improving energy utilization.”

To provide an efficient UPS, Huawei has focused on component, module and system excellence. For components, Huawei analyzes energy dissipation devices through contrast tests, selecting only the best products from leading manufacturers to reduce loss.
