Flipkart announced the launch of its datacentre in Hyderabad. The company did not reveal its investment in the new datacenter.
The Walmart company said that this is its second datacentre in the country. Flipkart has built the first datacentre — in partnership with CtrlS — in Telangana.
Flipkart’s new datacentre, which is one of the largest private cloud deployments in India, will strengthen its e-commerce business in India. Telangana Principal Secretary IT and Commerce Jayesh Ranjan inaugurated the facility.
The centre will enhance the company’s ability to bring in more sellers and SMEs to the online platform and cater to more consumers in the country.
This facility has been designed to be Tier-4 rated and most of the power consumed is fulfilled by renewable energy. It is one of the most energy efficient datacentres in India with a low overall PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness).
“Our new datacentre at Hyderabad is a testimony of our investment in the ecosystem and the state. We recognise the tremendous opportunity for sustained data-driven transformation in India,” Flipkart’s Chief Corporate Affairs Officer Rajneesh Kumar said.
