Facebook’s data center spending over the years

Facebook’s data center spendingData center spending by social media network Facebook has surged over the years, Motley Fool reported.

Second quarter revenue of Facebook increased 45 percent to $9.3 billion. Facebook has more than 2 billion active users on its social media network, giving competition to Google, Twitter, among others. Facebook has generated $3.9 billion of earnings with 42 percent profit margin in the recent three months.

Facebook’s strategy is to enhance capital spending. The company’s capital expenditure focusing mainly on networking to improve customer experience will reach $7 billion this year — up sharply from $1.8 billion in 2014.

Facebook said the proportion of monthly users who use the site on a daily basis has surged to 66 percent from 62 percent in late 2013.
