Equinix and Oracle announced an agreement to provide direct access to Oracle Public Platform and Infrastructure Services, via the Equinix Cloud Exchange in six markets worldwide.

Enterprises will now be able to safely, securely and seamlessly connect their existing Oracle applications, databases, compute and storage to Oracle’s new IaaS and PaaS public clouds.

Oracle Cloud will be available on the Equinix Cloud Exchange in Amsterdam, Chicago, London, Singapore, Sydney and Washington D.C.

“We are proud to expand the relationship with Equinix with the Equinix Cloud Exchange offering,” said Thomas Kurian, president, product development, Oracle.

“This will now provide added flexibility to our enterprise customers to pick the network services that are best suited for their diverse workloads,” he added.

Enterprise CIOs are looking to the cloud to improve performance of key business applications and gain cost efficiencies. However, many studies show they view security and performance as key challenges associated with moving business applications into the cloud.

Equinix Cloud Exchange addresses CIOs concerns about cloud security and performances via direct connection to multiple clouds and cloud services.

As a result, customers can easily create connections to cloud-based business applications while reducing the application latency often associated with traditional cloud access.

Cloud is the fastest growing part of Oracle’s business. Oracle Cloud supports 62 million users and 23 billion transactions each day. Oracle Cloud runs on 30,000 devices and 400 petabytes of storage in 19 data centers around the world.

The Equinix Cloud Exchange is currently available in 21 markets globally – Amsterdam, Atlanta, Chicago,  Dallas, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, New York, Osaka, Paris, Seattle, Silicon Valley, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo, Toronto,  Washington D.C., and Zurich.
