VMware unveils VMware vSphere Operations Management and VMware vSphere Data Protection Advanced

Infotech Lead America:VMware, provider of virtualization and cloud infrastructure, has introduced VMware vSphere with Operations Management and VMware vSphere Data Protection Advanced. These solutions will help customers further leverage their investments in VMware vSphere.The new VMware vSphere product line combines VMware virtualization platform with the award-winning VMware vCenter Operations Management Suite. VMware is also introducing a new edition of VMware vSphere Data Protection. The backup and recovery solution was first introduced as part of VMware vSphere 5.1 in August 2012.

These new offerings will enable customers to reduce Capex costs by up to 30 percent, optimize capacity, improve utilization by up to 40 percent and consolidation ratios by 37 percent. Application availability and performance will improve by cutting downtime by more than a third.

The time taken to find and resolve problems will be reduced by up to 26 percent. Customers will be able to reduce backup storage capacity by up to 95 percent and backup on network traffic by up to 99 percent.

VMware vSphere with Operations Management enables customers to proactively monitor and maintain performance. It helps customers nearly double the operational savings they receive from VMware vSphere.

VMware vSphere Data Protection Advanced offers increased scalability and new backup and recovery capabilities for business critical applications. Based on EMC Avamar, VMware vSphere Data Protection delivers  an efficient backup solution with industry-leading deduplication, full support of Changed Block Tracking and single-step restores.

VMware vSphere with Operations Management will be available in Q1 2013. The three editions are Standard, Enterprise and Enterprise Plus. Pricing starts at $1,745 per processer with no core, vRAM or number of VM limits.

As a limited offer, existing VMware vSphere edition customers will be able to upgrade to VMware vSphere with Operations Management editions or Acceleration Kits at 15 percent off the list price. New customers will be able to purchase VMware vSphere with Operations Management Acceleration Kits at 15 percent off the list price.

VMware vSphere Data Protection Advanced will be available in Q1 2013. It will be priced at $1,095 per processor with no restrictions on number of protected VMs per license.

VMware vSphere Data Protection Advanced will be available for purchase a-la-carte as a separate, standalone solution. It will be included with VMware vSphere with Operations Management Acceleration Kits (Enterprise and Enterprise Plus Editions).
