VMware revenue up 10 percent to $1.67 billion

VMware, a provider of cloud infrastructure and business mobility solutions, said its revenues for the third quarter rose 10 percent to $1.67 billion.

License revenues for the third quarter increased 7 percent to $681 million.

Net income of VMware for the third quarter grew 35 percent to $256 million.

Pat Gelsinger, chief executive officer of VMware, said: “We are optimistic about the long term value to VMware of the Dell and EMC plans to merge and the formation of the Cloud Services Business.”

VMware and EMC announced plans to form a new Cloud Services Business, jointly owned 50:50 by EMC and VMware – to offer hybrid cloud solutions. This new Federation business will bring together vCloud Air, Virtustream, object storage and managed cloud services into one company under the Virtustream brand.
