VMware today announced the appointment of IBM veteran Duncan Hewett as senior vice president and general manager to head Asia Pacific and Japan business.
Asia Pacific and Japan is one of the best-performing geographical regions for VMware.
Maurizio Carli, executive vice president, Worldwide Sales, VMware, said: “Duncan’s rich experience in the software industry – as well as his deep understanding of the Asia Pacific markets – will help us take our APJ business to the next level.”
Duncan Hewett joins VMware from IBM, where he most recently served as vice president for IBM Software for Asia Pacific, leading a team of over 1,800 people across sales, acquisition integration, subscription & support, software support and software services.
Prior, Duncan Hewett has played roles leading a team of 400 Enterprise sales specialists spanning 8 markets including South East Asia, India and South Asia, Greater China, Korea, Australia/New Zealand, Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa, and Latin America.
Duncan Hewett began his career working at IBM in 1987, working on large water-cooled mainframe systems, and moved into the IBM’s Data Systems division of Customer Service where he held roles in Engineering, Finance, Marketing and Services Management.
