Tech Data, an IT wholesale distributor, has selected T-Systems, a division of Deutsche Telekom, to migrate the existing IT systems in Europe to the cloud.

T-Systems did not reveal the size of the Cloud deal.

“Cloud computing is an essential part of Tech Data’s strategy – for our own IT systems and e-business tools in order to gain flexibility and innovation power,” said Philippe Bosquier, CIO Europe at Tech Data.

Tech Data enables 115,000 resellers to support the technology needs of end users in more than 100 countries. Tech Data generated $27.7 billion in net sales for the fiscal year ended January 31, 2015.

“T-Systems helps us with dynamic services to respond immediately to market changes in our product assortment. This accelerates pricing and logistics significantly, two major criteria for our customers with which we can score as an IT wholesale distributor,” Philippe Bosquier said.

Recently, T-Systems signed two cloud deals.

First, T-Systems will assist Union Investment to move its IT systems into the German cloud and Swiss. Its deal with Federal Railways (SBB) is for gradually migrating data center and infrastructure services as well as databases, applications and middleware to the cloud.

In addition, Swiss-based aviation services provider Jet Aviation and elevator and escalator maker KONE have recently outsourced IT services to T Systems cloud-based platform.
