Oracle data centersBusiness technology major Oracle said it is planning a data center in India in order to expand its cloud services over the next six to nine months.

Cloud companies such as Microsoft and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have their own data centers in India.

Earlier, Oracle announced revenues of $9.2 billion (+2 percent) in Q3 fiscal 2017 — supported by 73 percent increase in Cloud revenue.

Cloud software as a service (SaaS) and platform as a service (PaaS) revenues were $1 billion (+73 percent).

Oracle India said it will be reviewing proposals from India government and technology business partners to build and move workloads to an India-based cloud. The services will offer security and performance at a significant price advantage over both existing on-premises infrastructure and competitive cloud offerings.

Oracle did not reveal its pricing strategies to tap Indian enterprise customers with its Cloud offerings.
