Worldwide collocation revenue has grown 9 percent YoY to reach 5.2 billion in Q2 and are on track to hit $30 billion by 2017, says a new data from Synergy Research Group.

Retail colocation accounted for 78 percent of Q2 revenues, though the smaller wholesale segment continues to grow more strongly.

North America accounts for 44 percent of the global market, mainly due to the contribution from its well-developed wholesale sector. Other countries leading in collocation revenue include the U.S., U.K., Japan, Germany and China.
