How Microsoft cloud assisted Mohani Tea to achieve 5-fold improvement

Microsoft software for enterpriseMohani Tea, a tea manufacturer in India, has deployed Microsoft cloud solutions including Microsoft Office 365.

By making investment in Microsoft cloud, the twenty-year-old company achieved business growth, faster procurement and supply chain efficiency. The tea company has transitioned its raw material purchasing and product distribution management processes to Microsoft cloud.

The tea company achieved 5-fold improvement in its procurement cycle time at the end of the first 12 months.

“Mohani Tea used the Microsoft cloud to transform their business, access newer markets, and introduce workforce efficiencies,” said Amit Kumar, general manager – Small and Midmarket Solutions & Partners, Microsoft India.

Pentacle, a Microsoft partner is Mohani Tea’s technology advisor in helping them plan, deploy and manage Microsoft Cloud solutions.

By moving the process to Office 365 platform, the tea company could share required documents and bids in an online format while meeting internal and industry compliance norms. This brought down the typical procurement period from 3 days.

In addition, Mohani has improved collaboration across their offices, procurement centers in Assam, blending and testing facilities in Noida and marketing and dispatch offices in Kolkata and Kanpur and a distribution network comprising of over 1,000 distributors and 3 lakh retailers. It improved workflow management, reduced operational risk and improved its productivity significantly while optimizing costs.

“While choosing a technology solution, we want to ensure compliance to these processes. Transfer of lot of confidential auction documents and quick informed decision making are key to a profitable transaction in this business. With Office 365 we are able to do that,” said Santosh Kumar Sharma, Mohani Tea.
