Google Cloud appoints Nitin Bawankule as India head

Google Cloud announced the appointment of Nitin Bawankule as the India head as part of the strategy to enhance its Cloud revenue.

Nitin Bawankule, who has been with Google India for over six years as the head of Sales for verticals including e-commerce, retail, classifieds and education, will report to Rick Harshman, managing director, Asia Pacific, Google Cloud.

Nitin Bawankule, an IIM Bangalore and VNIT Nagpur alumnus, earlier worked at Dell, Motorola Mobility, Whirlpool and Godrej GE Appliances before joining Google six years ago.

Nitin Bawankule, director, Google Cloud, India, said, “Business leaders across industries are increasingly adopting cloud technology because they understand it helps solve a number of real challenges.”

The public cloud services market in India is poised to reach $4.10 billion by 2020. Google Cloud competes with Microsoft, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Alibaba Cloud to increase its revenue market share. Google recently said its quarterly revenue reached $1 billion from Cloud business globally.
