GoDaddy has launched new Web hosting platform optimized for WordPress, world’s most popular content management system (CMS).
The hosting company currently manages nearly 2 million WordPress websites. The new service provides customers with a platform to build a WordPress site that’s fast, reliable and secure, at an affordable price, the company said.
Bill Watt, GoDaddy director of Hosting Product Management, said, “The team created a product that is easy-to-use and is robust and scalable as an enterprise-level service.”
“GoDaddy Managed WordPress hosting costs a fraction of other competitors’ prices and is backed by award-winning, around-the-clock customer service which makes this a great choice for anyone looking to get their website up and running,” Watt added.
GoDaddy Managed WordPress automatically updates accounts to the latest version of WordPress and ensures that a website’s plug-ins aren’t vulnerable to security attacks or wasting resources, causing a website to perform poorly.
The managed service also includes multiple layers of added security including firewalls, malware scanning and automated security patching supported by its Security Team.
The new Web hosting service uses load-balanced servers dedicated to WordPress with multiple cashing layers and massively redundant SSD-backed file and database servers to ensure fast page loads and high scalability for traffic spikes.
GoDaddy created the platform by collecting feedback from users and experts. The team now plans to use interactions with the WordPress community to continuously improve the product.
In another development, GoDaddy hired Microsoft veteran Arne Josefsberg as its CIO. Josefsberg will oversee the cloud infrastructure and information systems.
