Infotech Lead India: Akamai Technologies, a provider of cloud platforms for enterprises, is planning to expand in India.

The expansion is in line with the company’s growing user base. Akamai has crossed the 100 customers mark in the Indian market.

To meet the diverse needs of the growing customer base in India, Akamai announced the opening of two new offices in Mumbai and Delhi.

At present, Akamai serves over 100 enterprises in India.

Akamai’s enterprise customers are from different industries such as financial services, manufacturing, travel, e-commerce, media & entertainment and IT/ITES organizations.

“India is one of our fastest-growing markets globally and it is exciting to see the traction over the last year in our customer base. We continue to see positive growth in this market as industries like financial services, manufacturing and e-commerce innovate online business models leveraging our market-leading cloud platform,” said Sanjay Singh, senior VP & GM, Asia Pacific & Japan, and Managing Director – India.

“As we expand our customer base, it is critical to have customer-facing operations across multiple cities in India and I am pleased to announce our expansion in Delhi and Mumbai. As Internet adoption grows in India, these new local offices will provide new solutions and capabilities to help our Indian customers move their businesses faster forward,” Singh added.

Akamai’s new customers in India include RedBus, India’s largest bus ticketing service and Bombay Stock Exchange, India’s leading stock exchange.

“At RedBus, we have powered over 10 million bus journeys and going live on the Akamai Platform is providing us the flexibility and scale as we add the next million customers.” said Phanindra Sama, Founder & CEO, RedBus.
