CA Technologies has made several key announcements at the ongoing CA WORLD ’14 in the U.S.
CA Application Lifecycle Conductor
The CA Application Lifecycle Conductor, a lifecycle management solution, automates and manages application development spanning mobile to mainframe environments – from the initial service desk ticket to deployment in production.
It provides integration and orchestration capability across development technologies and enables customers to visualize, control and manage the complex flow of their development processes through a common user interface, with lifecycle management across all environments.
CA Application Lifecycle Conductor combines elements, such as requirements, source control management, testing and deployment, into a unified view.
Michael Madden, general manager, Mainframe at CA Technologies, said: “The mainframe is at the heart of billions of transactions and powers the backend of the application economy. It is an integral part of the DevOps processes being implemented across our customer base.”
API management solutions
CA Technologies expanded API management solutions that accelerate mobile and web application delivery, improve customer engagements with frictionless access, and open new revenue channels and opportunities.
The company is offering the CA API Developer Portal as a SaaS offering. Businesses can open data as APIs, create, deploy and manage applications more effectively and efficiently to power innovation and competitive advantage.
Myrna Soto, chief information and security officer of Comcast, said: “The breadth of CA’s identity-based access control portfolio can benefit forward-thinking companies who know security isn’t something you can just bolt onto an app after the fact.”
Businesses are rethinking their business models in the Application Economy, with close to 90 percent planning to implement an API program in the next five years. CA is working with customers to securely marshal the hidden value of their APIs to create new applications, attract new users and developers, open new routes to market and grow their businesses.
Rahim Bhatia, senior vice president, API Management at CA Technologies, said: “CA is powering customers’ future and enabling the open enterprise, with identity-based solutions that provide secure, seamless access to APIs with enhanced data and user protection.”
CA Mobile API Gateway
CA Technologies has improved security and usability for Samsung KNOX-managed enterprise mobile applications with CA Mobile API Gateway. CA and Samsung deliver a mobile app security solution that gives Samsung KNOX enterprise users mobile app single sign-on (SSO) while controlling app access to the enterprise API.
The Mobile API Gateway integrates with existing identity infrastructures and offers SSO for a secure and convenient way to work across multiple apps, whether mobile, web or additional third party apps. It also protects the apps by controlling the connection to the API and backend data based on user, device and app status and condition.
Injong Rhee, senior vice president of KNOX Business, IT & Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics, said: “Over the next five years, we expect up to 800 million mobile devices in use across the enterprise. Protecting and enabling app use on those devices is critical to business success.”
New DevOps solutions
CA Technologies introduced new DevOps solutions and enhancements that further unify IT development and operations teams to drive faster and more effective development, deployment and management of applications.
Dana Edwards, managing director and chief technology officer at MUFG Union Bank, said: “As a result of CA Service Virtualization, we have reduced the costs for testing cycles by 65-85 percent, application development time is reduced, downtime due to refreshing test environments is now one hour vs. 10 hours, and time to set up development environments has been cut from 42 days to just three days.”
CA Management Cloud
CA Technologies has introduced Management Cloud, a portfolio of CA applications, delivered from the cloud, that enable customers to make the right portfolio decisions, deliver exceptional service experience and empower the modern, mobile workforce.
It delivers comprehensive management for IT services, assets and projects with rapid time-to-value, ease of implementation and a user experience that will drive enterprise-wide adoption.
Carey Blunt, global service desk chief architect at Fujitsu, said: “Tools like CA Cloud Service Management enable us to create a modern service management experience that is both agile and cost effective.”
CA said its Cloud Service Management (CA CSM) has redefined SaaS-based service management with a unique “configure, don’t code” approach that eliminates the need for big development teams and long customization and development cycles.
Angela Yochem, global CIO at BDP International, said: “Our entire workforce uses CA Cloud Service Management and it has been tremendously well received across all of the business lines. The great thing about the CA suite of tools is that it is an enabling foundation for all the things we are doing at BDP Technology.”
Frank Cheng, chief technology officer, Technology Service Business Headquarters at Wistron Corporation, said: “CA EMM solution, both SaaS and on-premise, provides total control of devices, applications, content and email while respecting BYOD freedom.”
