Amazon Web Services (AWS) is leading in public IaaS and PaaS service revenues in Q1 2018 in all four of the world’s major regions, said Synergy Research Group.
Microsoft is ranked second in three of the four regions including North America, EMEA and Latin America.
Google is ranked third in three of them including North America, EMEA and Latin America. Google is #4 in Asia Pacific. Google is #3 in Latin America.
The ranking differs in Asia Pacific due to the prominence of the Chinese market and the dominance of local cloud providers in China.
Alibaba is second ranked in the APAC region and fourth worldwide.
IBM is #4 in North America and EMEA. IBM is #5 in Latin America. Salesforce is #4 in Latin America and #5 in North America and EMEA.
IBM, Salesforce and Tencent fill out the other top five slots in the regions.
Public IaaS and PaaS are the most prominent segments of the cloud infrastructure services market and account for the bulk of the revenues, with the balance coming from managed or hosted cloud services.
Within public cloud, the dominance of AWS, Microsoft and Google is even more marked than in the larger cloud market. AWS alone accounts for almost 40 percent of the market and the three in aggregate account for well over 60 percent.
In China the top five cloud providers are all local companies. China now accounts for a third of the total APAC market.
