AT&T has partnered with Microsoft to deliver a secure cloud solution for enterprise customers using Microsoft cloud platform.
AT&T’s cloud integration technology, AT&T NetBond, will pair virtual private networking with Microsoft Windows Azure cloud platform. NetBond bonds networking and computing resources together and automates functions that are often performed manually.
Customers will also benefit from the enterprise-grade security of virtual private networking with as much as 50 percent lower latency than the public Internet, and access to cloud resources from any site using almost any wired or wireless device.
Customers can quickly connect applications and services from their own data centers (private clouds) to the Windows Azure cloud service using the protective confines and high transmission speeds of a highly-secure virtual private network.
AT&T’s new cloud solution takes advantage of the Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) technology, which promises to create secure, virtual links between multiple geographic locations.
Satya Nadella, executive vice president of Cloud and Enterprise for Microsoft, said the strategic alliance with AT&T provides a more secure and reliable connectivity option for customers and reduces the barriers to entry for cloud computing. It also accelerates the growth of cloud computing and rapid adoption of Windows Azure.
More than 50 percent of the Fortune 500 companies use Windows Azure as their preferred cloud solution, according to Microsoft.
