Amazon Web Services to Invest $8.4 bn in Germany for Cloud Computing Infrastructure

Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced its plan to invest 7.8 billion euros ($8.44 billion) in Germany through 2040. This significant investment aims to build a dedicated cloud computing infrastructure for Europe.
AWS reInvent 2023 eventLast year, AWS revealed plans to store data on servers within the European Union to ensure data privacy for government agencies and customers in highly regulated industries. In line with this initiative, AWS will launch multiple data centers in the German state of Brandenburg by the end of 2025. These centers will be accessible to all AWS customers.

The company stated that this new investment would support an average of 2,800 full-time jobs in local German businesses each year. This expansion is part of AWS’s broader strategy to enhance its infrastructure and services in Europe.

In addition to this announcement, AWS recently revealed that it will assist Telefonica Germany in migrating one million 5G customers to its cloud platform starting later this month.
