Amazon Web Services (AWS) CEO Adam Selipsky to step down

Amazon.com said Amazon Web Services (AWS) CEO Adam Selipsky will be stepping down.
AWS event for CIOsSenior Vice President Matt Garman will become the new CEO of AWS. Amazon Web Services is the #1 cloud service provider in the world — well ahead of Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud.

Over two stints, Adam Selipsky has spent 14 years at AWS. Adam Selipsky was the CEO of Tableau Software from 2016 to 2021. AWS lost several Cloud and AI deal to Microsoft in recent months.

Amazon.com recently said AWS segment sales increased 17 percent year-over-year to $25 billion during the first quarter of 2024. AWS segment operating income was $9.4 billion, compared with operating income of $5.1 billion in first quarter 2023.
