Alibaba Cloud revenue surges 100% to $2.14 bn

Alibaba Cloud computing revenue grew 101 percent to RMB13,390 million or $2.135 billion in fiscal year 2018.
alibaba-cloud-businessAlibaba Cloud is the leader in China’s market for infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) with a 47.6 percent market share in the first half of 2017, an increase from 42.4 percent in the first half of 2016, according to IDC.

Alibaba Cloud launched 316 new products and features including 60 focusing on artificial intelligence, data management and security.

Alibaba Cloud competes with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft, Google, among others.

Most recently, Alibaba Cloud launched Link Edge, an edge computing software to enable the development of IoT applications in industries such as manufacturing, real estate and public facilities such as airports and train stations.

Alibaba Cloud expanded its global footprint and customer base, most recently adding a new data center in Indonesia, increasing Alibaba Cloud’s global footprint to 18 countries and regions worldwide.

Latest clients

China National Petroleum Corporation is building its procurement platform on Alibaba Cloud, leveraging our private cloud, big data, and security products and services.

Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation, the Malaysian Government, is adopting City Brain platform for traffic management in Malaysia’s capital city of Kuala Lumpur. This platform leverages advanced technologies, including AI, big data analytics and computer vision to manage and optimize city traffic.

Cathay Pacific adopted security and data protection consultancy services to protect its operations in China.

Alibaba Group’s Q4 revenue of RMB61.932 billion or $9.873 billion includes RMB51,287 million or $8.176 billion from commerce, RMB4,385 million or $699 million from Cloud, RMB5,272 million or $840 million from digital media and entertainment.
