IT distribution company Tech Data announced the appointment of IBM veteran Richard T Hume as the company’s chief executive officer and Robert M Dutkowsky as the next chairman.
Richard Hume, who has spent two years at Tech Data, will succeed Robert M Dutkowsky, who will transition to the role of executive chairman of the Board.
Richard Hume is the currently the executive vice president and COO of Tech Data which has an annual revenue of $36 billion.
Since joining Tech Data in 2016 as COO, Richard Hume played a pivotal role in the creation of the company’s long-term strategy.
Prior to joining Tech Data, Richard Hume spent more than thirty years at IBM, holding a variety of executive positions including general manager and chief operating officer of Global Technology Services, IBM’s $32 billion infrastructure and outsourcing services business.
Robert Dutkowsky has served as Tech Data’s CEO and a member of the company’s Board of Directors since 2006. In 2017, Robert Dutkowsky was named chairman of the Board.

The IT distribution company’s revenues have grown from $21 billion to more than $36 billion, and non-GAAP earnings per share have increased by more than 550 percent during the 12-year tenure of Robert Dutkowsky.
