Lenovo @ Canalys Channels Forum 2023 Asia Pacific

Canalys Channels Forum Asia Pacific 2023 held in Bangkok has conducted a Q&A session between Steve Brazier, CEO of Canalys and Che Min (Jammi) Tu, Group Operations Officer of Lenovo.
Canalys CEO and Lenovo COOSteve Brazier said tech companies will depend on channels for 73 percent of their business. Tech spending will grow in 2024.

Che Min (Jammi) Tu said Lenovo will aim to double the engagement with channel business. Lenovo is considering channel as the top priority for enhancing business growth. Lenovo is already a leader in channel business according to Canalys rating.

Lenovo’s Service business growth was 20 percent. “We are tapping channels to enhance sales service business,” Che Min (Jammi) Tu said.

Lenovo is considering bringing ARM-based PCs.

Resellers can expect to sell more Lenovo products and solutions in coming months. Lenovo is the leader in the PC business. “We are catching up with leaders in enterprise business. We have a significant presence in the mobile business. We are trying to enhance our engagement with channels for our all business units,” Che Min (Jammi) Tu said.

Lenovo, a global technology leader, recently revealed that it faced a 16 percent revenue dip in the second quarter ending September 2023, with figures plummeting to $14.4 billion. This decline was attributed to a reduction in consumer spending on PCs and laptops, a sector that constitutes 60 percent of the company’s total sales.

Lenovo’s Software and Services Group (SSG) soared to new heights, achieving record revenue of $1.9 billion and an impressive operating margin of 20 percent.

Lenovo’s Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) faced a decline in revenue, totaling $2 billion. This dip was a result of broader macro-economic industry headwinds, economic slowdown, and platform migration. However, ISG excelled in segments like storage, software, services, High-Performance Computing (HPC), and Edge growth.

Lenovo’s Intelligent Devices Group (IDG), despite a year-on-year revenue decline to $11.5 billion, has retained its global No.1 position in PC shipments and activations.
