Canalys Forums 2023 Explores Strategies to Neutralize Attack Amid Escalating Cyber Threats

Canalys Forums 2023 Asia Pacific recently hosted a pivotal panel discussion, “Neutralize the Attack Surface,” spotlighting the imperative strategies and best practices for partners to identify and assess vulnerabilities within their clientele amidst the surging cyber threat landscape.
Canalys Forums Strategies to Neutralize AttackThe discussion was set against the backdrop of Canalys’ recent revelation regarding the robust growth of the global cybersecurity technology market, which surged by 11.6 percent to reach $19 billion in Q2 2023, despite prevalent macroeconomic uncertainties and restricted IT budgets. Notably, cybersecurity technology spending through channel partners witnessed a notable uptick, accounting for 91.5 percent of the total spending, marking a significant increase from the previous year.

The cybersecurity services opportunity for partners will be larger than selling cybersecurity technology this year, with spending forecast to grow 13.2 percent to US$143.2 billion in 2023. Managed security services and integration services will be the fastest growing areas.

Highlighting the escalating threat landscape, Matthew Ball, Chief Analyst at Canalys, voiced concerns about the unprecedented surge in ransomware attacks and data breaches. He emphasized that if the current trend persists, 2023 is poised to surpass the record levels of cybersecurity incidents witnessed in 2021, urging heightened vigilance and robust preventive measures.

Canalys analysts underscored how evolving practices in multi-cloud strategies, hybrid work setups, digital supply chains, and changes in code development have inadvertently facilitated threat actors in exploiting vulnerabilities, making proactive measures imperative.

The esteemed panel, comprising distinguished experts including Matthew Ball, Chief Analyst of Canalys; Aaron Chong, Account Director APAC, Cybersecurity at Broadcom; David Peach, Director – Westcon AU, Westcon-Comstor; Guy Coble, Managing Director / Principal Architect – Data Centre, Network & Security, S5 Technology; James Boyle, CEO of NetStrategy; and Nishant Jalan, Director Cyberscurity & Networking at Galaxy Office Automation, elucidated crucial aspects during the discussion.
Channel partners role in Cyber Security businessThe discourse delved into the pivotal role of AI in vulnerability reduction, highlighting essential metrics for gauging the efficacy of customers’ efforts in minimizing attack surfaces. Emphasis was placed on fostering service-centric engagements, urging partnerships to bolster capabilities in areas like red teaming and MDR, while stressing the necessity for enhanced collaboration among vendors, particularly in integration and data sharing.

In an era where cyber-resilience is paramount, the panel underscored the increasing need for channel partners proficient in cybersecurity. The dialogue at Canalys Forums 2023 stands as a beacon, illuminating the path toward fortified defenses, urging collaborative efforts and proactive measures to combat the ever-evolving threat landscape.
